Faringdon and Carterton are both in Oxfordshire but could hardly be more different, and they don't even share a postcode area: Faringdon carries an SN7 (Swindon) postcode despite being a historic Vale of White Horse market town, while Carterton, in OX18, is a largely twentieth-century town shaped by neighbouring RAF Brize Norton. We've kept them on one page because each is too small on its own for the detail to stand up, but the two are treated separately below — the councils, the housing stock and the checks that matter are not the same.

Faringdon & Carterton, specifically

Faringdon: an older, elevated market town

Faringdon's historic core is conservation-sensitive and holds a number of listed buildings around the Market Place, and the town's elevated setting means sloping drives and level changes are more common than in most of the towns on this list — both add cost and complexity that a flat site wouldn't. Any frontage change in the historic core should be checked with Vale of White Horse District Council first.

Carterton: a suburban town shaped by Brize Norton

Carterton grew almost entirely in the twentieth century around RAF Brize Norton and is characterised by substantial suburban estate housing, with continuing growth on its edges. It does not carry the same historic density as Faringdon — heritage designations here should be confirmed address by address with West Oxfordshire District Council rather than assumed either way.

Access differs by town, not just by street

Faringdon's older core can have tighter plots, established walls and sloping approaches that need a site-specific groundworks plan. Carterton's more uniform suburban layout usually provides conventional frontages, though newer estates may have private management arrangements or parking courts worth checking before pricing.

Permeable surfacing under two different councils

The paving-over-5m² planning rule applies in both towns, but it's administered by different councils: Vale of White Horse for Faringdon, West Oxfordshire for Carterton. Resin bound surfacing is permeable and clears the rule in either case — just don't assume the same council handles both towns' applications.

What it costs

Prices don't vary by town on this site — every figure is a published UK cost-guide rate, and averaging it down to a local number would just be inventing one. The national cost guide and calculator give you the real range; what's on this page is what's genuinely different about doing the job here.

Getting a resin drive priced in Faringdon & Carterton?

Send us the drive, the surface it's replacing and your postcode, and the enquiry goes to installers covering your area.

Get resin driveway quotes

Tell us the drive and where you are. Your details go to installers who cover your postcode — we publish costs, we do not lay driveways, and nobody gets your number until you send this.

  • We are a cost guide, not an installer — so we have nothing to gain from talking the price up.
  • Your postcode decides who hears about it. No postcode, no route.
  • Three quotes is the standard advice, because the same job varies 20 to 30 per cent between firms.
  • No number is a quote until someone has stood on your drive.

Estimates on this site are arithmetic on published cost-guide rates. They are not quotes, not offers, and not based on seeing your property.
