Thame combines a historic market-town High Street — wide, and lined with listed buildings — with Victorian housing, twentieth-century suburbs and newer edge-of-town homes. As with most Oxfordshire market towns, the resin job on a High Street property looks nothing like the job on a 1990s estate half a mile away.

Thame, specifically

The High Street conservation area

Thame has a designated conservation area centred on its historic core, with numerous listed buildings along and around the High Street. Any visible frontage change in this area should be checked with South Oxfordshire District Council before work is priced.

Frontage width in the centre

Central and older residential streets can have limited frontage width, restricted parking and tight delivery access. Outer neighbourhoods generally have conventional front gardens, though road crossings and surface-water drainage still need a site-specific check rather than an assumption.

Cuttle Brook, on the south side of town

Cuttle Brook and the adjoining nature reserve run along Thame's southern side. Sites near the brook or its open land should have drainage and flood-risk considered individually — this is a local, not town-wide, consideration.

Permeable surfacing and South Oxfordshire's planning rules

Paving over 5m² of front garden with an impermeable surface needs planning permission from South Oxfordshire District Council unless it's permeable or drains to a soakaway. Resin bound surfacing clears that bar in most cases, which is relevant on both the older High Street plots and anything near Cuttle Brook.

What it costs

Prices don't vary by town on this site — every figure is a published UK cost-guide rate, and averaging it down to a local number would just be inventing one. The national cost guide and calculator give you the real range; what's on this page is what's genuinely different about doing the job here.

Getting a resin drive priced in Thame?

Send us the drive, the surface it's replacing and your postcode, and the enquiry goes to installers covering your area.

Get resin driveway quotes

Tell us the drive and where you are. Your details go to installers who cover your postcode — we publish costs, we do not lay driveways, and nobody gets your number until you send this.

  • We are a cost guide, not an installer — so we have nothing to gain from talking the price up.
  • Your postcode decides who hears about it. No postcode, no route.
  • Three quotes is the standard advice, because the same job varies 20 to 30 per cent between firms.
  • No number is a quote until someone has stood on your drive.

Estimates on this site are arithmetic on published cost-guide rates. They are not quotes, not offers, and not based on seeing your property.
